During my career as an economist and consultant, especially for the World Bank, I had the opportunity to work on issues related to the management of natural resources’ revenues obtained from the exploitation of hydrocarbons, copper, or precious stones. By definition, these natural resources are exhaustible and one of the central questions is how best to ensure intergenerational equity so that future generations can enjoy the same advantages as current generations?
Very quickly, therefore, I was made aware of what one might call the sustainability of fiscal and monetary policies. I have mainly advised sovereign wealth funds which represent one of the institutional solutions to the problems related to the management of natural resource revenues.
Improving the funds’ quality in terms of its legal structure, governance, responsible engagement, and transparency guarantees better management of revenues. Based on these experiences, I became more aware of the real impact of institutions and businesses on society as a whole and of the need for good management and governance led by responsible and virtuous leaders.

Vision

As society faces serious challenges ranging from scarcity of resources to increasing inequalities, climate change, and increasing population and consumption, economic and social actors are increasingly turning to companies to play a more important role and above all a societal mission at the service of the greatest number. To achieve inclusive prosperity and to succeed and prosper in the future, companies have to rethink their operating model, reinvent their strategies and engage in innovation that breaks with the models of the past.

Today, we need leaders who develop new skills and a new mindset focused on economic sustainability in order to propel companies that are champions of sustainable development for virtuous and responsible capitalism. It is with this in mind that we offer solutions to leaders and businesses that are on the path to become more sustainable.

To complete my training as an MBA and Ph.D. in economics, I followed an accredited training program in the practice of executive coaching. This training was delivered by one of the most reputable coaching organizations in the United States, the Center for Executive Coaching created by Andrew Neitlich. This training was supplemented by more than 100 hours of practical experience, crowned by the ACC certification from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Mission

The purpose of our company is to promote sustainability leadership and sustainable organizations’ teams.

The mission of our company is therefore:

To promote businesses to become purposeful with a social and environmental mission.

To accelerate the migration from profit-driven corporations (without an environmental and social mission) towards sustainable corporations.

To shift mindset and leadership behaviors so that sustainable leaders embrace virtuous capitalism.

The FLAME Model for a sustainable company

We have created a framework for companies wishing to migrate from a conventional profile to a sustainable one that puts sustainability at the heart of its strategy. We have defined five steps within this model and we are providing our solutions and coaching programmes all along this model:

F
Formulating its social, societal, or environmental mission means explaining how the company’s purpose contributes to the common good. How do my businesses activities help solve a societal problem? It is a question of articulating, in a clear, understandable, precise, and positive manner, the specific contribution of the company to the society.

L
Lead and guarantee the success of the mission internally and in conjunction with the main stakeholders. How to animate the teams of the company around the mission and ensure a good collective performance? How to integrate users, beneficiaries, and external stakeholders in the successful achievement of the mission? Who is responsible for this move internally and externally?

A
Aligning shareholders, board, management, and employees around the mission thanks in particular to the implementation of good governance. Governance is the body or bodies responsible for the smooth running of the mission. To truly embark the whole of the company, this governance must at least involve shareholders, management, and employees.

M
Making commitments and defining actions means concretely implementing the mission with the concerned teams, defining environmental and social projects, setting environmental and societal activities, a timetable, and operational and financial responsibilities.

E
Evaluating the accomplishment of the mission makes it possible to account for the good execution of the mission: Are we moving to the right direction? How do we measure our progress?
